Web application
Mountain Pier
A prototype gaming web platform with Twitch controls, microservices, and an external API.
Overview
Mountain Pier is a Twitch-based gaming service developed as coursework for Distributed Information Processing Systems. The concept was a platform where developers could publish games running on virtual machines and viewers could control them through Twitch chat.
Users register with the service, choose a game, and then select a channel in which to play. The prototype combined a web interface, service APIs, a chat bot, and a Unity demo application.
Architecture and implementation
The service was designed as a set of independent components for authentication, social features, marketplace functions, platform services, statistics, aggregation, the frontend, and the chat bot. An external API with OAuth 2.0 authorization allowed third-party developers to register applications and use the platform services.

Status
The project is on hold. Questions around running and controlling client applications remain unresolved, while a separate matchmaking prototype was explored without a production implementation.
