Game
Tidelines
A minimalist transport strategy game set on an archipelago where tides change route availability.
Overview
Tidelines is an early-stage Unity game: a minimalist transport strategy set on an archipelago where water level changes route availability. Players plan routes around tides and low water.
The first learning level, “Quiet Bay,” introduces transport, changing water, and a tidal path. The player creates and edits walking and boat routes, controls the simulation, and watches for safe travel windows.
Implemented
- Tide model, height map, and water-level preview.
- A simulation session with pause, speed controls, restart, and a debug completion action.
- Walking and boat routes, including waiting for a safe tide window.
- Passenger demand, boarding, delivery, transfers, and mixed-route selection.
- Editor tools for settlements, stops, lines, and trails.
- A first game level with HUD, objectives, and no failure condition.
Technical foundation
The project uses Unity 6000.6.4f1. Configurations are held in ScriptableObjects; geography uses a height map, and simulation state is separate from map data. A URP shader renders terrain, while the session code is organised around the core, routes, boats, pedestrians, residents, path selection, and level systems.
